Here’s a list of ideas for how to enjoy your day in Mevagissey and the surrounding area.
- Browse the quaint shops and then indulge in award winning fish and chips on the harbour side.
- Grab a crabbing kit from the local fishing shop (seriously, there are so many, it’s great for kids)
- Go to Pentewan and swim – either in the sea or for the less hardy, in the on-site heated swimming pool.
- Go to Charlestown or Gorran Haven on a high tide and enjoy an hour of harbour jumping like the locals do (just make sure it really is high tide, and exercise caution)
- Go to whichever nearby beach takes your fancy, lie there and do absolutely nothing.
- Head East along the coastal path towards the barren and beautiful headland (Black Head) and keep an eye out for birds of prey hovering over the cliffs.
- Rent paddle boards from Pentewan and have a day on the water.
- Kayak up the river Fowey from Golant with Encounter Cornwall.
- Get hooked onto the UK’s longest zip wire and fly over the Eden Project at Hang Loose.
- Catch a mackerel from the harbour wall and cook it over the BBQ.
- Grab a snorkel mask and explore the deep…
- Rise early and watch the boats leave Mevagissey at sunrise.
- Head inland and get on the flow rider – Cornwall’s artificial wave machine.
- Eat a pasty, walk as far along the coastal path as you can, then stop and eat another pasty. Repeat until you’ve walked all the glorious 640 miles of the Cornish coastal path.
- Take one of Mevagissey’s fishing day trips, like the Besee Vee. This is the most Meva day out in Meva! Really recommend this.
- Hop aboard the Mevagissey to Fowey ferry, whizz across the bay and explore the estuary village.
- Walk out the village over to Chapel Point – glorious walk, no car needed!
